Are you ready to be more compassionate with yourself – without adding more to your day?
“You have to choose. You can move through necessary pain and heal. Or you can run from the pain and healing – and create much added misery for everyone, including your descendants and yourself.”
– Resmaa Menakem
I used to feel crippled by a harsh inner critic, always questioning whether what I did was good enough. I didn't know it then, but I had "imposter-syndrome". I just knew it as anxiety, fear, shame, anger, and depression.
Studies show that up to 82% of people struggle with it at some point in their lives, especially those whose identities are underrepresented. In my case, being of mixed Chinese-American heritage, I rarely saw people like me in the circles I was in, which fueled the sense that I didn't belong in them.
The real issue isn't our judgmental thinking. It's when our thinking stops us from speaking up in situations where our voice matters, or contributing what we have to contribute when our communities need us. It's when our thinking prevents us from being who we long to be.
So, how do we become free?
You might think my answer is self-compassion – but what happens when self-compassion doesn't work, or you don't have time to do it?
Many approaches to self-compassion fall short because they're too time-intensive, don't address interpersonal boundaries, and don't create lasting improvements to your quality of life. In my own experience, self-compassion practices offer genuine freedom if they:
- are integrated into daily life, especially busy schedules
- include making healthy interpersonal boundaries when necessary
- directly address the root causes of suffering
That's why I developed this course on Practical Self-Compassion: to offer people real freedom from inner struggles, the freedom which gives the energy, confidence, and joy to be who they want to be in the world. The tools I share are those that I've found to be consistently effective from 20+ years of studying self-compassion through practicing it in my own life and guiding thousands of others in theirs.
Whether you're new to self-compassion or have taken tons of trainings, if you struggle with judgmental thinking, this course is for you. I invite you to check out the details below and join me on August 31/ September 1 (see the start time in your time zone).

“I’m not saying that we have to get totally liberated from all of our inner, violent learning before we look outside of our self to the world, or to see how we can contribute to social change at a broader level. I’m saying we need to do these simultaneously.”
– Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD, founder of Nonviolent Communication

Rachel Fedde found that years of competitive fencing had left her muscles tight and turned to yoga to regain flexibility. She grew to appreciate yoga for both its physical benefits and the focus and calm that the practice brings. She completed her 500 hour certification in 2018. Today, she shares the freedom and peace she’s found in yoga with others, with a focus on beginners, restorative, pranayama (breathing), and teaching other teachers (YACEP). She is also an award-winning film and television editor who loves to travel.
